Vinegar
The usual 5 or 10 percent table vinegar, as well as vinegar essence, can be found in every kitchen. With their help you can effectively clean the inside of the metal kettle from a layer of scale.
To do this, pour vinegar / essence and cold water into the kettle in proportion to 1 liter of water:
- 150 ml 5%;
- 100 ml of 10% table vinegar;
- 50 ml vinegar essence.
Then let the water boil. If the scale does not exfoliate well, then the process of boiling a mixture of water and vinegar must be repeated.
Next, the mixture from the kettle must be drained into the toilet, and the kettle must be thoroughly washed with detergent, rinsed, boiled water in it and drained again. The kettle is now completely ready for further use.
Lemon acid
It is a more gentle cleaning agent than vinegar. Her can be used not only for metal teapots, but also for plastic... As a rule, citric acid can be found in the home kitchen in powder form - a couple of teaspoons will be enough to clean the teapot from plaque.
Process cleaning is pretty simple:
- pour cold water into the kettle;
- add 2 teaspoons or 2 sachets of powder;
- bring the mixture to a boil;
- leave to cool;
- drain the water with scale into the toilet;
- rinse the kettle.
With the help of acid, you can not only remove scale, but also restore the color of the plastic to its original saturation.
Soda soda
Favorite by many carbonated drinks, such as "Coca-Cola", excellent suitable for cleaning any kettle, both metal and plastic... The principle of operation of this method is approximately the same as for cleaning with citric acid. However, you do not need to dilute soda with water, it is enough:
- pour it from a bottle into a kettle;
- wait for the gas to evaporate from it;
- boil;
- let cool;
- drain the contents of the kettle into the toilet.
Now all that remains is to wash the kettle.
Apples and / or potatoes
For this method of cleaning the kettle, you will need apples, preferably sour apples, dried apples are suitable, as well as the peel from them.
- If the apples are whole, then they will need to be cut.
- Then the sliced apples (peel or dried fruit) must be sent to the kettle, filled with cold water and allowed to boil.
- After the broth has cooled, the "cake" must be carefully removed and thrown into a bucket for food waste, and the liquid must be poured into the toilet.
This method is quite effective, and it also works with pears and even potatoes.
Baking soda
The peculiarity of this method is that baking soda must be added to cold water... If you add it to a burning one, then a reaction will occur with the formation of foam. Therefore, we add soda to the kettle based on one tablespoon per liter, pour cold water into it and send it to boil.
It is worth noting that boil the soda solution as long as possible, at least for half an hour, so you shouldn't close the lid on the kettle.
As soon as the scale is gone, the contents need to be poured down the toilet to prevent clogging up the kitchen sink. Then rinse the kettle thoroughly with running water.
Canned brine
Before pouring out the brine left over from salted, pickled or pickled vegetables, look into your kettle, you may find this brine useful for descaling.
Cleaning the kettle with it is extremely simple.: pour, boil, cool, pour and rinse.
A mixture for neglected situations
A mixture of vinegar and baking soda, or baking soda and citric acid are great for descaling. In both cases, let the water in the kettle boil and cool down. In either case, first add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to cold water, and only then vinegar or acid.
Lemon / lime
The next time you boil water in your kettle, "throw" half a lemon or lime into it, thanks to which the scale from its inner walls, as well as from the surface of the heating elements, will move away, and the device will become as good as new.
Metal brush
This is perhaps the most drastic way, which may not be suitable for an electric kettle, since both a sponge and a brush can damage its heating elements. However, this method exists, and it is quite applicable to ordinary iron teapots.
Take a look a selection of handy tools to facilitate cleaning.
Store funds
In the household goods section of any store, you can find a wide selection of products specifically designed for descaling kettles. Any of these means, for example, "Anti-scale", "Shine", "Cinderella" and so on, can be used for its intended purpose.
However, do not forget to read the instructions carefully and strictly follow its recommendations.
Store-bought products, of course, are more effective, but you need to go for them, they cost money, and from the point of view of health safety, they may not be as harmless as all of the above "improvised" means.
